On the evening of June 16, the International School held a campus safety and pre-examination education conference for foreign teachers and students. Jin Meilan, Dean of the International School, and Shi Hang, Vice Dean, attended the conference. The conference was designed to raise international students’ awareness of examination rules and disciplines, build a solid safety barrier for the summer vacation, and guarantee all teachers and students a safe and rewarding holiday. Officer Yang Meiyi from Longquan Police Station of Wuxing District, Huzhou City, was specially invited to deliver a special keynote speech.
At the conference, Police Officer Yang Meiyi gave a vivid lecture on cyber security and fraud prevention based on frequent cybercrime cases occurring in universities. She analyzed common telecom fraud tactics including online dating scams, fake judicial personnel impersonation, and rebate brush-order fraud. She reminded everyone to strictly protect personal information, refuse to trust unknown phone calls, and never transfer money to unfamiliar bank accounts. Officer Yang also emphasized the legal boundaries of internet use, guiding teachers and students to surf the internet safely and in a civilized manner. As the person in charge of the Campus Police Station stationed at Huzhou Normal University under Longquan Police Station, Yang Meiyi has long been engaged in community police work on university campuses. Her presentation was closely relevant to the daily lives of foreign teachers and students and won warm responses from the audience.
Subsequently, Teacher Gu Yangfeng delivered comprehensive and detailed safety education combined with real cases for the critical period before the summer vacation and final exams. In terms of flood control and drowning prevention, Teacher Gu reminded foreign teachers and students to stay away from dangerous waters, avoid swimming alone, and pay attention to travel safety under extreme weather conditions. Regarding religious safety, he restated relevant provisions of Chinese laws and regulations on religious activities within the territory, requiring foreign teachers and students to abide by laws and refrain from participating in illegal religious activities. Focusing on the upcoming final examinations, he stressed examination room rules and academic integrity, warning students to abide by examination disciplines and eliminate cheating with past violation cases. In addition, he gave detailed reminders on daily management issues including dormitory electricity safety, fire and theft prevention, and traffic safety during the summer vacation.
